20/09/02 - 25-year-old found
unconscious
Detectives want to know how a 25-year-old came to be found
unconscious in a street on Sunday evening in Peterborough.
Members of the public found Gary Unsworth on the pavement
opposite the Grove Community Centre in Grove Street, Woodston,
just before 10pm.
They called an ambulance and he was taken to Peterborough
District Hospital initially and then transferred on Monday
to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge where he remains
in a semi-conscious state with head injuries.
DC Mike Garrett, who is investigating, said: "Gary
remains in a stable but poorly condition in hospital and
I need to know how a fit and healthy young man ended up
unconscious.
"We have spoken to several witnesses about what happened
and we do know that there was some kind of disturbance,
however we don't exactly what happened and how Gary came
to have head injuries.
"There was a bingo night on at the Grove Community
Centre that night - where you there? Did you see anything?
Anyone who may have seen or heard the disturbance should
get in touch." Gary was wearing a white t-shirt and
blue jeans on the night.
Anyone with information should contact detectives at Thorpe
Wood on 01733 563232 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
