CRIMEWRITER and author Bernard O'Mahoney has been remanded in custody after appearing in court on a blackmail charge.

The 45-year-old is jointly charged with another man, Adrian Foster, following an alleged incident arising out of the collection of a debt.

Mr O'Mahoney, of Black Prince Avenue, Market Deeping, appeared before Lincoln Crown Court under his full name, Patrick Bernard O'Mahoney.

He did not enter a plea' to the charge. He was refused bail and remanded in custody until Thursday, July 7.

Mr Foster (34), of East Cobgate, Moulton, who also did not enter a plea, was granted conditional bail.

Mr O'Mahoney's latest book, Hateland, based on his correspondence with "nail-bomber" David Copeland, was published earlier this year.
