THE sister of a man who was found unconscious in a city

his bedside. THE sister of a man who was found unconscious
in a city street today spoke of her family's anguished
vigil at his bedside.
Father-of-one Gary Unsworth (25) is still unconscious
in hospital after being found with serious head injuries
on Sunday night. Doctors believe he could suffer brain
damage. Mr Unsworth was discovered outside the Grove Community
Centre, in Grove Street, Woodston, by passers-by and taken
to Peterborough District Hospital before being transferred
to Addenbrooke's Hospital, in Cambridge.
It is still unclear how he came to be unconscious, but
today, sister Lisa (28) said she believed he had been
involved in trouble earlier that night at the Swiss Cottage
pub, in Grove Street, and had been asked to leave.
Lisa, a mum-of-six, of Pittneys, in Paston, Peterborough,
has spent hours at her brother's bedside with his parents,
William Unsworth (54) and Lorraine Matthews (48), together
with Gary's twin brother Trevor (25) and other sister,
Karren (22). Lisa said: "We are all hoping and praying
he is going to wake up soon.
"Doctors have told us his condition is not life-threatening,
but until he wakes up and talks we will not know if there
is any lasting damage. We talk to him and stroke his hand
and he has been tossing and turning. It is very hard for
us all seeing him like this."
Mr Unsworth, who lives on his own in Monument Street,
Eastfield, is the father of four-year-old William and
works as a driver for Parcelforce. A 39-year-old man and
a 27-year-old man, both from Peterborough, were arrested
on Tuesday in connection with the incident. They were
released on bail pending further inquiries. |
