ESP Mag - October Issue
As Peterborough's live music scene continues to grow,
we find ourselves spoilt for choice for gigs most weekends.
ESP's Sarah Field decided to find out a bit more about
a few of Peterborough's up and coming bands... As far
as music goes, there's a lot of talent in Peterborough
at the moment.
Everywhere you turn there are new bands coming out of
the woodwork and, credit where credit's due, they make
for decent, varied listening. One band that's having a
good time of it at the moment is Mesh-29.
Having recently taken on new management, they're now busily
recording their latest EP in between gigs...not bad for
two lads of 19! It all started out when Adam Mezzatesta
and Anthony Shiels met at school at the tender age of
13 (aahhh!).
Their shared love of music has taken them from writing
songs in the school playground to gigging around the country.
But it hasn't exactly been plain sailing. At the age of
16 the Whittlesey lads got together with two fellow musicians
and formed Mezzmerize.
They quickly began recording the album 'First in Line'
and practised like mad for about a year, but it just wasn't
working. As individuals they were brilliant musicians,
but as a group they just didn't mesh (sorry, couldn't
resist!).
Eventually the band split up, but Adam and Anthony picked
themselves up and started again, having learnt from their
mistakes. The two lads got back together and Mesh-29 was
born.
Several demos later, with a style that oozes confidence
and experience, they're gaining quite a following from
all around the country. The recording of their latest
EP is going well, having just recorded Hangin' on You.
It's proved to be quite a crowd pleaser, along with the
not-yet-recorded Sitting On This Stopwatch, which will
also feature on the demo. You can find their October gig
dates on our gig list and for more info on the band take
a look at www.mesh-29.co.uk. |
