01/02/02 - Men charged after match

Two men have been charged in connection with incidents at the football match between Peterborough United and Newcastle.

A crowd of 13,800 attended the match on Sunday which saw just nine arrests.

A 32-year-old man from Yaxley, arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, was released on police bail to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station on February 7.

Two youths aged 14 and 16, both from Peterborough, arrested for carrying offensive weapons, were released on police bail to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station on February 5.

Of the three men arrested for being drunk at a designated sports ground, two men aged 40 and 26, were released with a caution.

Of the three men arrested for running on the pitch, a 43-year-old man from Ramsey and a 36-year-old man from Peterborough, were released with a caution.
