26/09/02 - New appeal for injured man
Cambridgeshire Constabulary - Press Release

Detectives are hoping that a Peterborough man will be able to shed light on how he came to be laying unconscious in a city street with head injuries.

Gary Unsworth, 25, has now regained consciousness in hospital and detectives hope they will be able to speak to him over the coming days.

Gary was found unconscious in Grove Street, Woodston, just before 10pm on Sunday 15th September. He was taken to Peterborough District Hospital and later transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge.

DC Mike Garrett, who is investigating, said: "Gary is now up and about and although he is not yet well enough to be spoken to by officers, we are hopeful that in the coming days this will be possible.

"We have spoken to several witnesses about what happened and we do know that there was some kind of disturbance in the area just before Gary was found but we still need to know exactly what happened and anyone who has not yet come forward is urged to do so.

"There was a bingo event on at the community centre that night so there would have been several people around. If you think of anything then please do call me."

Gary was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans on the night.

Anyone with information should contact detectives at Thorpe Wood on 01733 563232 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
