The Evening Telegraph
POLICE have renewed their appeal for witnesses after a night-time stabbing in Market Deeping. Two men were taken to hospital on Sunday at 2.20am with stab wounds after the incident in Black Princes Avenue.
Four men from the local area were arrested within an hour and taken into custody for questioning, after armed police were deployed on the town's streets to minimise the risk to public safety The victims of the stabbing were a 45-year-old man, who suffered wounds to an arm, and a 42-year-old man who had injuries to his hands, who have both been released from hospital since.
Chief Inspector Kieran English, of Lincolnshire police, said: "Our enquiries continue in this incident and we would welcome any information from members of the public."
Inspector Andy McManus added: "I want to reassure the local community of Market Deeping. This was not a random attack, and the public are not at risk. The incident occurred due to an escalation of a prior disorder.
There will now be an increased police presence in the town to reassure people. "Patrol officers will be regularly visiting the local pubs to ensure that there is no violence or other problems." The four people arrested are due to report back to police at a later date.
