BREAKING BUTTERFLIES ON WHEELS
Dear Lisa,
Ok, I concede I am no butterfly, but however hard I try
to put my past behind me, either some wannabee villain
or person in authority wants to `have one over on O`Mahoney`.
They cannot see my past is in the past, I'm not interested
in reputations or childish mind games, but look how I
am treated and ask me if I have a right to feel resentful.
Since moving to Peterborough I have had my car damaged,
one car stolen, two motorbikes stolen and the window of
my home smashed. I was arrested twice after being assaulted
and after it was proven I had done no wrong no charges
were preferred against me.
I had been battered black and blue with a police baton
and after a complaint was made against the officer concerned,
I said I wanted no complaint to be investigated and no
further action to be taken. (I have the photos of my injuries,
there not pretty) As the police seemed `ineffective`,
I bought an extendable police baton from a shop in Dogsthorpe.
I didn't threaten anybody with it, I didn't pull it out
in public but I was stopped searched and arrested for
possessing it. (Fine including costs £267.oop) On
Sunday, I kick a ball after a game has ended, the police
arrest me lock me in a cell for the evening, charge me
and bail me to appear at court.
EVERYBODY agrees it was a lighthearted incident with NO
victim. The Police apply to have me barred from all football
matches `as a matter of course`; the Magistrates fine
me £130.00p. But what of EVERYBODY else arrested
on that day at that match? A man arrested for VIOLENT
DISORDER - on Police bail until Feb 7th.
Two youths in POSSESION OF OFFENSIVE WEAPONS - on police
bail until Feb 5th. Three men arrested for being DRUNK
AT A DESIGNATED SPORTS GROUND released with a caution.
Two men who RAN ON TO THE PITCH DURING PLAY, released
with a caution.
Out of all of the above, my `offence` WAS the most trivial.
Respect is not given, it is earned. If the judicial system
in Cambridgeshire is treating young men with reputations
and problems like they treat me, then don't be surprised
in the future when these impressionable young men end
up in jail and socially excluded.
I am disgusted Peterborough United feel my `sentence`
was light and I am disgusted I live in a county which
resembles a one sheriff town where the sheriff makes the
law and is the law. I know you will not publish this but
I will appeal against the `severity` of my sentence and
if successful donate the original fine imposed to somebody
locally who deserves it.
Regards
