Statement of: DEREK POSTANCE

This statement (consisting of 1 pages each signed by me)
is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and I make
it knowing that, if it is tendered in evidence, I shall
be liable to prosecution if I have wilfully stated anything
in it, which I know to be false or do not believe to be
true.

On Saturday 30th August 2003 i was on duty and at 0103
hours attended together with PC BROOMFIELD at The Old
Coach House Public House, Bridge Foot, Market Deeping,
in response to a police radio message concerning an alleged
assault incident.
On arrival I found PC DONALDSON and PC CAPP present.
A male I know to be Bernard O'MAHONEY was stood with officers
on the front car park of
the premises.
It was apparent he was in custody. On going in to the
downstairs bar area I saw a male ! knew to
be Mr Ken TURTON. He was holding some material to his
face and he was bleeding from a facial
injury I did not personally see.
I confirmed an ambulance had been called. I left the scene
to convey a police car back to Market
Deeping Police Station for PC CAPP, PC BROOMFIELD and
I returned to the scene at 0200 hours
and were informed by staff that broken glass involved
in the incident had been cleared up and
removed to la bottle bank at the premises.
