I have been employed by the Lincolnshire Police as a Scenes
of Crime Officer since 1993. I am
registered with the Council for the Registration of Forensic
Practitioners as a Scene Examiner,
number 439.
On Saturday 30th August 2003 I attended The Old Coach
House public house, Bridge Foot, Market
Deeping, in relation to reported assaults. I took eight
photographs of the scene. These have been
produced in an album, police item MH1 (with a label attached,
which I have signed) indexed as
follows:
Photographs taken at The Old Coach House public
house. Bridge Foot, Market Deeping on 30th
August 2003 (MH1)

the bar entrance door is in the foreground.
2. View of glass bins at rear of public house.
3. View left in bar from entrance door with toilets and
dining area beyond and up two steps. Note the two bins
in foreground.
4. Floor in bar area near the two bins in photo 3. Glass
(police item MH2) was seized from this area.

seized from this area. Also other glass (police item MH8)
was seized from the floor at the base of the toilets entrance
door.

I retain the negatives.
I seized items as follows (each with a label attached,
which I have signed).
MH2 - Glass (from main bar area).
MH3 - Glass (from raised portion of bar area - i.e. dining
area).
MH4 - Batch control (A), Control (B - floor near toilets),

toilets), control (G - ladies toilet floor), blood (H,
I and J - ladies toilet floor) swabs (in evidence

I determined the presence of blood using a blood testing
kit, achieving a positive indication for
blood. On my return to Spalding Police Station, I placed
the above items into the secure scenes
of crime store.
At Market Deeping Police Station on Saturday 30th August
2003 I showed the button, police item
MH7, to Carole Margaret SMITH and Kenneth Marsh TURTON.
Both stated that the button did
not appear to have originated from their clothing.
I took two photographs of Ms SMITH, which form part of
an indexed album, police item MH9,
details later in this statement. I also took four photographs
of Mr TURTON, which form part of
PAGE 3
an indexed album, police item MH10, detailed later in
