This statement (consisting of 1 pages each signed by me) is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and I make it knowing that, If it is tendered in evidence, I shall be liable to prosecution if I have wilfully stated anything in it, which I know to be falsa or do not believe to be true.

On Sunday 1st May 2005 at 1713 hours I was on duty in full uniform at BOURNE Police Station where I saw a male I know to be James COTTAM, We were In the interview room where I wasrecording a statement from him. During the course of this he received numerous calls on his mobilephone.
The display on the mobile phone said 'Call from BERNIE'. At this particular time his phonerang and at this point he answered it. I could hear a male voice on the phone which was loud andsounded angry.
I was able to hear some of the words this male said. "DELIVER MONEY OR I WILL CUT YOU TO PIECES YOU FUCKING WANKER," I did not hear the full message.
COTTAM was frightened by this call and ended it. I continued recording his statement and whiledoing this, his mobile phone rang numerous times. COTTAM did not answer his phone any more
during my presence. |
