03/05/01 - Allotment body - police quiz man
By Essex Evening Echo
A 20-year-old man has been quizzed in connection with the murder of Dean Boshell, police have revealed.
The man, from Southend, was released on police bail until July 4 pending further inquiries.
Dean, 24, was found dead in the Manchester Drive allotments, Leigh, with a single gunshot wound to the back of the head early on March 28.
Detectives first believed he had been stabbed but a post mortem examination revealed he had been shot.
An incident team was set up at Rayleigh police station to investigate the case, which left the local community stunned.
Mr Boshell had been released from prison just five months before his death after serving a short sentence for a string of burglaries.
He had been living in Southend where he had been moving around bedsits in the weeks up to his death.
Police had found it hard to piece together Mr Boshell's movements prior to the murder.
It is believed he had tried to impress potential friends with false boasts about his past.
It was hoped distinctive tattoos on Dean's body would help reveal more information about him.
Detailed descriptions of Mr Boshell's body art, which included a large dagger with England written across the middle on his right forearm, were released in the hope more people would be able to help establish his whereabouts in the days before his death.
