27/04/00 - Sad farewells to murdered dad Danny

By Essex Evening Echo

Devastated friends and relatives of murdered father-of-one Danny Davis paid their last respects as he was laid to rest. Mourners turned out for the private and low-key ceremony at Pitsea Crematorium two months after the fatal stabbing.

Mr Davis, 24, died ten hours after being stabbed once in the buttock outside the Barge pub, in Clay Hill Road, Vange, on Saturday, February 19. He struggled 500 yards to a friend's house in Oldwyk, Vange, where the alarm was raised.

His death left a four-year-old boy without his father and a large family numb with grief. Separated parents Roy and Christine Davis were brought back together to appeal through the Echo for information which would help in the hunt for their son's killer.

Mr Davis' two sisters, from Eastwood and Corringham, and brother, from Wickford, pulled together to help each other through the tragedy. They have all now been able to say a final farewell to the man they loved.

A major murder hunt was set up after the death. A poster appeal was also launched between Essex Police and the Echo and road checks carried out in a bid to trace the killer.
