Bernard O'MahoneyBernard O'Mahoney

Bernard O'Mahoney is a former key member of the Essex Boys firm. He was the head doorman at Raquel's nightclub in Basildon - the setting for many of the gang's lucrative enterprises and bloody encounters. Following the death of 18 year old Leah Betts who died after taking an Ecstasy pill that was supplied by his associates, O'Mahoney decided to leave the firm.

His decision to quit was met with death threats from his former friends Tony Tucker, Pat Tate and Craig Rolfe.

Two weeks later, all three were found shot dead in their Range Rover which was parked down a deserted farm track. In Essex Boys and Bonded by Blood O'Mahoney details the firms shocking activities in gruesome detail and the reasons why he believes the men convicted of the Essex Boys murders are innocent.

Having laid down his weapons and picked up the pen - O'Mahoney went on to write about other equally fascinating periods in his incredible life. In Soldier of the Queen he describes his time in the Army and what life was really like fighting an everyday war against the IRA.

In The Dream Solution he tells the story of his involvement with sisters Lisa and Michelle Taylor who were convicted of the brutal murder of newly wed Alison Shaughnessy. O'Mahoney headed two crusades in the name of the Taylor's - the first to prove the sisters' innocence, the second to be allowed to tell the world of their guilt.

O'Mahoney's fifth book Wannabe in my gang? exposes the gangland myths that have made legends of those who claim to be responsible for mayhem and murder. He reveals the sordid secret of one of Britain's most infamous gangsters and tells the truth about the imposters who make a living selling stories and writing books about events that have never even happened. Described as "a classic of its genre"

O'Mahoneys most recent autobiographical book Hateland is not for the feint hearted. From his abusive and violent childhood through his dark days as a football hooligan, right wing thug and South African prisoner to the sudden death of his young wife, O'Mahoney tells it as it was, sometimes dangerous, sometimes humorous - always gripping.
