Gary Moore, from Toryglen in Glasgow, has a long record of violence and appearances in court. In 1992, he was accused of the murder of Glasgow prostitute Diane McInally, but the charges were dropped. McInally, 23, had been found battered to death in Pollok Park, Glasgow, near the Burrell Collection, three months earlier.
In 1983, he was charged with the murder of six members of the Doyle family during the infamous ice-cream wars. He was alleged to have been one of the gang who set the Doyle home on fire. He walked free from the four- week trial for murder at the High Court in Glasgow before his two fellow accused, Joe Steele and Thomas Campbell were each jailed for life.
Moore stabbed Jimmy Boyles son to death in a row after the Boyle formed a relationship with Moore's girlfriend and mother of his daughter, Janice McEneny.
