A NOTORIOUS gangster has insisted the only thing he is interested in shooting in Peterborough is a film.
"Dodgy" Dave Courtney was at Peterborough Greyhound Stadium on Tuesday evening to promote upcoming British film Four Bend Trap, the climax of which is to be filmed at the track.
He is set to play a leading role in the film and, dressed in a sparkling purple suit, he revealed some of the tales from his equally colourful past.
They included his run-in with Deeping-based former Essex Boys gang member Bernard O'Mahoney, who has claimed in his latest book 'Wanna Be In My Gang' that Courtney tried to kill him.
Courtney admitted that he had planned to end the life of his rival.
And added he might pay his former associate a visit while he is in Peterborough making the film, but only as a fellow author.
Courtney said: "I have seen what has been said in the book and I am flattered to have a mention in someone else's book.
"It is true, I had planned to take him on a long one-way drive, but he got wind of what we were up to and made his escape.
"I'm sure he would have seen in the paper that I was coming to Peterborough so I am a bit disappointed he did not come to see me.
"But I might go and knock at his door for a chat, but purely as a fellow author, of course.
"While I am in Peterborough the only thing I will be shooting is the film and I can't wait to get started."
Tarantino meeting
IN his days as an East End villain, Courtney's association with the likes of the Krays and Lenny McLean earned him the tag of "the Yellow Pages of the underworld".
And he was the inspiration for Vinnie Jones' character Chris in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
He also claims in his books to have been shot, stabbed, had his nose bitten off and killed a man to save his own life.
It is a life story which has interested Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino, who has bought the rights to Courtney's books for a reputed £10 million.
Courtney said: "I have been to the States to meet with Tarantino twice and he is very interested in making my life story."
