- Krays to get service invite
Express & Star
Former gangland leaders Ronnie and Reggie Kray are to
be invited to a memorial service in Codsall for road crash
victim James Fallon, who died last month. James's father,
Mr Roger Failon, said today that a special service would
be held in honour of his son at St Nicholas Church, Codsall.
"We will be inviting both the Kray twins to the memorial
service. We are very grateful to them for all they did
to help James," said Mr Fallon today from his home
in South Africa. James, aged 11, died three weeks ago
nearly two years after suffering severe spinal injuries
in a road crash.
He had been paralysed when he was struck by a speeding
car. driven by an underage motorist. The 17-year-old,
who had taken his father's car without consent, was later
fined £50. Top surgeons from all over South Africa
managed to save his life with a seven-hour operation.
James, was finally allowed home, 18 months after the surgery,
but he finally died in March after going into a coma following
injections. A major fund-raising appeal launched to help
James was supported by the Krays, who helped to present
a charity boxing match in his honour in Essex just days
after his death.
Mr Fallon added: "We think that St Nicholas Church
will be the most obvious choice because James was christened
there, and my wife and I were married there. "The
Krays have been incredible as far as James was concerned.
What they did for him was very special." A Home Office
spokesman said that requests from prisoners for permission
to attend funerals or memorial services were considered
by the authorities. |
