05/04/03 - Nail bomber attacked
Police are investigating allegations that nail bomber
David Copeland had been attacked at Broadmoor Hospital.
Copeland, 26, killed three people and injured 139 in 1999
after planting a series of bombs in London targeting gay
and ethnic communities.
He is serving six life sentences after being convicted
at the Old Bailey in July 2000.
According to reports Copeland was attacked in his private
room. He was allegedly kicked in the head.
A Broadmoor spokesman said: "Any potentially criminal
act which occurs within the hospital is referred to
the police.
"I am not in a position to confirm any specific
allegation as I would not wish to jeopardise any possible
police investigation."
Copeland carried out a nail bomb attack at Brixton
market, south London and attacks at Brick Lane, east
London, and Soho.
The attack on the Admiral Duncan pub on April 30 left
three people dead. |
