01/04/01 - Nailbomber nut's
sick love mail from fans
NEIL McLEOD
The People
CRAZED nailbomber David Copeland is being swamped with
lust-filled mail in Broadmoor from warped women fans,
the Sunday People can reveal.
The twisted Soho pub killer gets dozens of letters from
girls saying they fantasise about sex with him.
And, incredibly, his father Stephen would love to help
them visit his vile son in the secure hospital.
The love letters arrive from two women in particular
- one in Manchester, the other in Ireland.
But Stephen, 53, said: "As far as I am aware,
there isn't one special girl. David has a lot of people
writing to him - who knows what drives them to do it.
He writes back to them."
Stephen, of Yately, Hants, added: "I told David
if he wanted me to arrange for the girls to visit, I
would try. It would be great for him to have some female
company being locked up in that place all day."
The women COULD apply to see Copeland - who murdered
three people and maimed 140 in 1999 in an evil Nazi-style
war on gays and immigrants.
But the skinhead fiend was stripped of visiting privileges
for days after being involved in a clash that left a
Jewish inmate with a broken jaw.
He is also being kept apart from black and gay inmates
at the Berkshire hospital in case he becomes the target
for retaliation attacks.
Copeland, who needs anti-psychotic drugs and regular
sessions with psychiatrists, is serving six life sentences
for the nailbomb carnage in London's Brick Lane, Brixton
and Soho. His last attack, at gay pub the Admiral Duncan,
killed a pregnant mum andtwo men.
He was planning further outrages at targets including
the Millennium Dome when he was captured.
Amazingly, Stephen claimed: "David is not violent.
He wants to get along with everyone. I've seen him shaking
hands with black people in the visiting room."
A Broadmoor spokesman said: "Anyone can write to
him. Anyone requesting a visit will be referred to the
medical team who will assess whether they are suitable."
