27/10/92 - Our Paul loved life
so much..
Daily Mirror
A CUDDLY Woody Woodpecker sits by the bedside of Paul
Pearson's heartbroken parents. They even take it with
them when they spend time away from home. Woody was Paul's
favourite toy.
It reminds Ken and Julie Pearson constantly of the cheerful,
friendly lad who fought so bravely to overcome a speech
impediment. Julie said: "It's like having a little
bit of Paul with us all the time. We also have images
of our son which will remain for ever.
The most vivid is of his happiness He was full of the
joys of life. He was very outgoing, very trusting. Perhaps
too trusting." From their home the couple and their
other children - Kevin, 11, Claire, seven, and Christopher,
five can glimpse the ravine where Paul's body was found.
But although the sight haunts the family, they will not
move away. The speech therapy unit which Paul attended
has introduced an annual trophy in his memory for the
best achiever. Julie said: "It's the Cheerfulness
Trophy a fitting tribute to Paul." |
