This is the gardener accused of raping and strangling
seven-year- old Sophie Hook.
Howard Hughes, 31 and 6ft 6in, exploded in rage yesterday
when confronted in court with his alleged sexual obsession
for young girls.
Forced to look at photos he had taken of a naked seven-year-old
relative, he protested: "This doesn't make me a
child killer."
Handed cut-out pictures of naked children that were
said to have been seized from his home, he shouted:
"This is about the f*****g murder of a girl, not
about what I cut out."
Minutes later, he wept in the dock at Chester Crown
Court.
During questioning Hughes said 17 times: "I did
not kill Sophie Hook." Instead, he suggested his
father, Gerald, had framed him.
Hughes denies raping and strangling Sophie, right, after
plucking her from her uncle's garden in Llandudno. The
trial continues. |
