The Mirror

CHILDREN'S charity the NSPCC yesterday apologised for the first time for failing to save murdered Victoria Climbie.

Chief executive Mary Marsh admitted to the London inquiry into the eight-year-old's case that they made major mistakes.

Mrs Marsh said: "I am very sorry that we let her down ... we did not act."

Victoria was killed two years ago by her great aunt Marie-Therese Kouao and her boyfriend.
