A DOCTOR who released Victoria Climbie despite believing
she was abused, yesterday took the blame for the hospital's
failings.
Dr Mary Rossiter said social services had not been told
of her fears after the eight-year-old was admitted with
scalding.
The girl returned to her abusers - aunt Mary Therese
Kouano and her boyfriend Carl Manning - and died six
months later.
Dr Rossiter, of London's North Middlesex Hospital, told
the inquiry into the death: "I failed to realise
that what seemed a clear cut case of child abuse had not
been comprehended by social services." |
