MR LATHAM
Constable Tee, please, 1339?
DAVID TEE
police Constable 531, DAVID TEE, Cambridgeshire police,
currently stationed at Parkside police station, Cambridge.
MR LATHAM
Constable Tee, I'm going to take these matters very shortly
you went to the college site with officers we have heard
from this morning on both Tuesday early evening and then
Wednesday during the course of the morning, didn't you?
DAVID TEE
that's correct, my Lord.
MR LATHAM
did there come a time when you, the police, took an interest
in what we have come to know as the hangar building?
DAVID TEE
right.
MR LATHAM
was there a question about how to gain access to it?
DAVID TEE
it was basically told to us that.
MR LATHAM
I do not need to know at this stage what you were told
but was it - did you think you were going to be able to
get in without the help of the caretaking staff?
DAVID TEE
I thought it was going to be locked.
MR LATHAM
at that point, as you were trying to get into the building,
who were you with from the school staff?
DAVID TEE
I was with a Mr Gee, the caretaker.
MR LATHAM
I think it was indicated to you it was divided up internally
into distinct sections, the sport section, the CDT the
science and technology section?
DAVID TEE
that's correct.
MR LATHAM
Were you there when the door was opened to the CDT section
or not?
DAVID TEE
I was there, yes.
MR LATHAM
was that locked or unlocked, the CDT end?
DAVID TEE
that was locked.
MR LATHAM
do you remember who it was that actually unlocked the
door?
DAVID TEE
it was Mr Gee.
MR LATHAM
to get to the other end you go round the side of the building
where there is both a door and a roller shutter, isn't
there, on the side of the building?
DAVID TEE
that's correct, yes.
MR LATHAM
did you gain access to that part of the building as well?
DAVID TEE
no, my Lord, I didn't.
MR LATHAM
were you there when the door was opened at that side of
the building?
DAVID TEE
not to the roller side.
MR LATHAM
did you ever go into that end of the building?
DAVID TEE
can you just tell me what was actually in that part of
the building.
MR LATHAM
you - let's put it other way round you tell me what you
saw in the end of the building you went into, what sort
of things were there there?
DAVID TEE
the PE equipment part of the building.
MR LATHAM
PE equipment, that's the PE end rather than the craft
design and technology end?
MR JUSTICE MOSES
(inaudible).
MR LATHAM
can you just look at that photograph? Do you recognise
that?
DAVID TEE
I recognise the photograph and the area, yes.
MR LATHAM
did you ever go into either of the doors we see there?
DAVID TEE
from what I can recollect, looking at that there, it would
have been through the doors, I think.
MR LATHAM
now, were you there when those doors were first opened?
DAVID TEE
yes, initially.
MR LATHAM
who opened them?
DAVID TEE
Mr Gee.
MR LATHAM
Were they locked?
DAVID TEE
they were locked - they were unlocked when I went there
with Mr Gee.
MR LATHAM
when you went there with Mr Gee, did Mr Gee have any keys
with him?
DAVID TEE
I believe he did, I think he unlocked them there.
MR LATHAM
and what were you expecting or asking Mr Gee to do in
relation to those doors?
DAVID TEE
unlock them so we could go in.
MR LATHAM
did he need to unlock them in the event?
DAVID TEE
no, because it was unlocked.
MR LATHAM
they were unlocked?
MR JUSTICE MOSES
(inaudible)?
DAVID TEE
it was unlocked, the door.
MR LATHAM
did you ever have anything to do with the roller shutter,
the big roller shutter door?
DAVID TEE
not that I can recollect, my Lord.
MR LATHAM
Mr Tee, you seized numerous items during a search of the
5 College Close in September?
DAVID TEE
that's correct.
MR LATHAM
your initials being DAT?
DAVID TEE
that's correct.
MR LATHAM
we will see them over and over again, particularly in
relation to clothing, I think, is that right?
DAVID TEE
that's correct, my Lord, yes.
MR LATHAM
thank you. Would you wait there, please? Cross-examined
by MR COWARD.
MR COWARD
Mr Tee, two matters. Can I suggest your recollection is
wrong about the hangar; that Mr Gee opened both sides
of the hangar with keys he had in his possession, that
both locks on the DT side were opened by him. On the PE
side he opened a padlock but then found that the second
lock was itself unlocked?
DAVID TEE
no.
MR COWARD
that's what the actual position was?
DAVID TEE
no, the PE side, where I went into, was unlocked.
MR COWARD
the second matter is this, officer you said that in, later
on, I think, September, you took part in the collection
of exhibits from number 5 College Close. I am looking
at page 1343 D, E and F of your statement. If the statement
is correct, and I don't doubt it, you began seizing items
of clothing which had been put on a mattress on a bed
at 8 minutes past 9 in the morning. You seized a total
of 40 items from that bed, finishing at 15.54 hours, so
that is six and three quarters hours in total to make
an exhibit of 40 items?
DAVID TEE
that would be correct, my Lord, if that's what the statement
says, yes.
MR COWARD
is that a good indication for us all as to the extent
to which everything in the house was looked at with a
fine-tooth comb?
DAVID TEE
when you says an exhibit you have to pack it, write the
label, so it takes time - so, yes, everything that was
seized would take time to exhibit.
MR COWARD
I think on succeeding days you had another seven ours
of doing the same the next day?
DAVID TEE
I think so.
MR COWARD
carefully, painstakingly making sure everything was done
properly?
DAVID TEE
yes.
MR COWARD
officer, thank you.
MR LATHAM
thank you very much. (the witness withdrew).
