10/01/97 - Child killer in Aberfan insult
The Mirror

A twisted child killer is "researching" the death of 116 youngsters in the 1966 Aberfan disaster.

Simon McBride, 20, who drowned his six-year-old sister Rebecca in a pond, claims in a letter to a Swansea newspaper that he wants to "share" the parents' grief. He asks for information about the South Wales disaster to be sent to him at the young offenders' centre at Aylesbury, Bucks, where he is held.

But his father Neil, 45, from Penlan, Swansea, said yesterday that no one should reply. Mr McBride added: "He's sick - he has a morbid fascination with killing."
