18/07/96 - Sophie trial jury
sent home
Daily Record
The jury in the Sophie Hook murder trial failed to reach
a verdict yesterday and were sent home for the night.
Howard Hughes, 31, denies raping seven-year-old Sophie
twice, before strangling her and throwing her body into
the sea.
It's alleged he took her from a tent in her uncle's
garden in Llandudno, North Wales, in July last year.
Before sending them away, judge Mr Justice Richard
Curtis told jurors: "If you feel that he committed
any of these crimes you must convict him."
The eight men and four women will reconvene at Chester
Crown Court today. |
