23/02/03 - Ripper's killing
kit recovered
EXCLUSIVE by JOHN KELLY
Sunday Mirror
A V-NECK jumper worn by Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe
during his killing spree has been handed back to the police.
Sutcliffe, serving life for 13 murders and seven attempted
murders, was also wearing the jumper when he was arrested
for a minor traffic offence and blurted out his crimes.
It was never mentioned at his 1981 Old Bailey trial
and Detective- Constable Alan Foster was ordered to
destroy it. Instead he took it home.
Mr Foster, now retired, said at his home in Leeds:
"The fact that he wore it each time proves he pre-planned
his crimes and should never be let out."
West Yorkshire police said yesterday: "We are exploring
what, if any, forensic value it may have." |
