01/11/06 - Murder suspect's anger at questions
Essex Echo

A man accused of murder threatened to hit a police officer and smash up recording equipment when he was being quizzed about a triple shooting, a court was told.

Ricky Percival is on trial at Chelmsford Crown Court for killing Dean Boshell, who grew up in Basildon, at the Manchester Drive allotments, Leigh, in 2001.

He has also been accused of attempted murder, in which members of the Tretton family and their friends were shot with a pump action shotgun in Locksley Close, Southend, in 1999. Yesterday, the jury heard police tapes of interviews with Percival, 27, of Cricketfield Grove, Leigh.

Det Con Terry Lambert was questioning him at Southend Police Station just days after the shooting. Percival was originally arrested, but never charged with the offence. After answering questions in two previous interviews, Percival said in the third: "I'm going to hit you in a minute because you are f***ing pissing me off. I'm trying to explain something. Turn this s**t off before I smash it up."

Percival has denied murder and attempted murder, as well as perverting the course of justice, conspiracy to steal, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, robbery and possession of a firearm with intent to commit an offence.

The trial continues.
