A former bouncer turner author who has championed the case of two men convicted of the notorious Rettendon slayings has welcomed the latest bid to free the men.
Speaking exclusively to the Gazette, Bernard O'Mahoney, author of Essex Boys', said he was delighted at the decision by the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) - an independent public body set up to investigate miscarriage of justice - to look at the case.
Jack Whomes, 46, a former Suffolk bouncer and Great Bentley man, Michael Steele, 63, who are both serving life sentences, have always denied murdering three drug dealers found blasted to death in a Range Rover in December 1995.
Speaking from Rhodes, he said: "I hope and pray that they won't have to fight much longer." If successful the convictions will be passed on to the Court of Appeal. Archive Home |
