I am the Sales Manager of Hi Tec Sports (UK Limited) PLC working from their offices situated in Aviation Way, Southend. I have held this position for the past ten years. As a result of a request from the Essex Police I have researched a Basketball boot produced by Hi Tec known as the SLAMDUNKER.

I am now able to state that this item of footwear was included in our range of sports shoe for the period 000088 to 000089. At the end of this period the design would have been changed and the SLAMDUNKER would have gone out of production, although model stock may well have been held up to 000090.

If this had been the case all remaining stock would be sold cheaply to persons such as market traders. All Hi Tec shoes are manufactured in the Far East in one of four countries. I believe that the SLAMDUNKER was manufactured in Taiwan.

The soles are made by hot rubber or whatever material in to the view being injected onto a plate. There are of course thousands of plates of use. At the end of the production period the plates are of no further use to Hi Tec and I am unable to say what the manufacturer does with them.

I can produce a picture of the SLAMDUNKER basketball boot taken from the Hi Tec 000088/000089 brochure (exhibit BLC/1).
