I live at number 4 Frettons, Basildon, Essex. Frettons is the name of the road which joins Gordon Road in the area known as "Red Brick" Basildon. I am registered disabled with arthritis, my wife has a part time job and I tend to look after the home. I also have a dog and it is not unusual for me to take our dog our for a last walk late in the evening.

About a year ago I became aware of a heavily build male who moved into a bungalow just opposite the junction with Frettons and Gordon Road. I saw him a couple of times but I did not know his name there were rumours in the area that this person had come out of prison and is what I would describe as a villain.

The number of this bungalow is 49 Gordon Road. I can recall seeing various cars parked at this address, just recently I have seen a dark blue or grey Range Rover. This vehicle I have seen coming and going at various times of the day. I believe I have also seen a blonde haired female coming and going from the same address.

On Monday 041295 during the evening I can remember seeing a white Ford Transit parked in the driveway of 49 Gordon Road. I saw two people with the vehicle one of which I recognised to be the male occupier of the bungalow, the second male was a big heavy set person he was white but because of distance and the darkness I couldn't give a better description.

The Ford Transit van was of the new style but I cannot give any further description or vehicle registration. Between midnight and 0030 hours on Wednesday 061295, I had just watched a film or football and I decided to take the dog out for its last walk. I left my home via the front door and walked with the dog into the junction with Gordon Road.

The bungalow of 49 Gordon Road is just opposite this junction. As I walked out I saw a white Ford Transit van (again the same style as the vehicle I saw on Monday 041200). This vehicle pulled away from outside number 49 Gordon Road heading down towards Timber Log Lane. I am positive this vehicle pulled away from this address.

I did not notice the vehicle start up. I did not see the driver or any other person in this vehicle. I can give no further description of this vehicle and only gave it a second thought when a few minutes later a police vehicle drove up Gordon Road turned around and drove off.

I remember thinking the police were a couple of minutes late if they were looking for that van. During the course of the following day I heard that three people had been shot in a dark blue Range Rover, I discussed the likelihood of it being the man who lived at number 49 as this caused me to remember the white van and to wonder if the van was in any way connected with the shooting incident.
