- Letter from Bernard O'Mahoney to Essex Police Complaints Department
MR
P.B. O'Mahoney
Peterborough
January 20th 2001
Attention Mr R. Newman. Chief Inspector, Investigating Officer.
Dear Sir,
In August 1999, I made a number of complaints against Police
Officers following an incident in Basildon in May 1999. (I was
advised to wait until the charges had been dropped, which they
were in August 1999) I've been interviewed by an Officer (alledgedly
from the Police Complaints authourity - I say 'alledgedly because
he is either stationed or has an Office/ telephone number at
Basildon Police station) and my partner has been interviewed
by the same Officer. The last time I spoke to him - the latter
part of last Summer - he assured me the matter would be concluded
by October or November 2000. This 'promise' was obviously false.
This rather straightforward complaint has taken longer than
most murder enquiries and I am concerned vital evidence which
goes towards proving my case has been 'accidently' destroyed.
(Custody area video) I now wish to complain about the way my
complaint has been handled and I would like an Officer from
outside the Essex force to oversee all enquiries. Lisa Brinkworth
of the B.B.C. has been monitering every aspect of this complaint
and I am hopefull that the shabby way my complaint has been
handled will be highlighted. As the Officer concerned knows,
I am not a fool and the stunt he pulled recently in order to
try and incriminate me has been recorded.
I look forward to your reply
Thank you.
