- Nicholls Trial Points
Page 1 2 3
Q. You are in fact using Bridge as a Suicide Jockey, whereby,
if he gets stopped and searched, you elude prosecution. Bridge
then takes the rap; Only on this occasion, you are under intense
Police surveillance, because of your dealings with the corrupt
D.C Bird When Bridge is stopped, so are you? (Operation Apache)
Q. Police find the 10 kilos of cannabis resin in the transit,
and both you and Bridge are taken into custody?
Q. You are questioned on the 13th and 14th May 96 to which
you give no comment answers to?
Q. During this reticent period your duty solicitor informs
you, many arrests have been made, including Police Officers.
You are also informed that a pump action shot gun has been
found at a premises which you have knowledge of.... Why do
you now offer your alleged murder information, after you have
been arrested with hands on £25k worth of cannabis and
your fellow conspirator D.C Bird you have confirmed is now
in the slammer?
Q. Colin Bridge, your suicide jockey, caught red handed with
10 kilos of resin, has no charges to face, and is released,
once you begin you epic story to the Police. What deal did
you strike with the Police to enable Bridge to be released?
Q. Bridge is not only released, but for reasons better known
to the Police and the C.P.S Mr Bridge now becomes a principal
witness for the prosecution?
Q. Does "Colin Bridge" ever use the V.W. Passat,
which you allege to sell Steele, and is driven by you on the
day of the murder 6.12.95 (See Con/Wit Bridge pg 390,392)
Q. Do you own a Winnie Bago camper?
Q. Did you request Jack Whomes to pick this vehicle up for
you on 29th Dec 95?
Q. Why did you ask Jack Whomes to pick this vehicle up, instead
of you usual gopher Colin Bridge
Q. Did Colin Bridge accompany both you and Whomes when you
retrieved this vehicle?
Q. When requesting Jack Whomes to retrieve this vehicle on
29th Dec. 95, just 23 days after the Rettendon Murders, had
you decided then to make plans to set him up for an importation
charge?
Q. Has Jack Whomes retrieved any other vehicles at your request,
directly or indirectly?
Q. Has Jack Whomes ever assisted you in other way regarding
vehicles? (6/24 Nichols 17.5.96) Whomes re-cuts tyres, and
sells Nichols diesel. It is April ,96.
Q. You have tyres re-cut and purchased diesel from Whomes,
who is clearly working for a living to assist you! How far
had you progressed by April 96 to "set Whomes up for
an importation charge?
Q. You are aware Jack Whomes constantly maintains a fleet
of H.G Vs for a living and is considered to have excellent
expertise in this field,... would you agree with that?
Q. You have seen Whomes workshop maintenance depot. Would
you agree these premises are well equipped and professionally
run? (Show photos)
Q. In short Whomes is a very capable person, when dealing
with vehicles of all types?
Q You have told us that Steele is a very clever man, (21.
5. 96 pg 2) He also is a very clever engineer, whose skills
range from designing and building houses to using computerised
engineering equipment. His workshop is also equipped with
high technology equipment, Would you agree? (Show photos)
Q You will agree they are very capable engineers?
Steele and Whomes capabilities do not fit into Nichols plot!
Q. According to your statements, every crime which you allege
takes place, had a number of strikingly common factors, which
inevitably points towards YOU....
E.G :-
1. You confess to taking large amounts of money abroad to
purchase drugs
2. You are not only captured with drugs when arrested, but
confess to dealing in drugs, and of course you confess to
dumping drugs associated with a murder.
3. Travel expenses, tickets etc. are all purchased by you,
allegedly paid for by someone else.
4. One of the most striking and obvious factors, is whenever
a motor vehicle is used for an illegal purpose, you supply
the vehicle, be it owned by you or hired by you.
V.W Scirrocco Owned Used for alleged drug run into Holland.
V W Cabriolet Owned Used to take drug money into Holland.
Peaugeot 406 Owned Used for alleged drug run into Holland.
Jaguar XJ6 Owned Used to retrieve drugs on 13.5.96.
Transit Van Owned Used to retrieve drugs on 13.5.96.
Land Rover Owned Used to recover drugs on 13.5.96
Citroen Owned Used to recover drugs at Gallows Corner.
Seat Hired Used for alleged drug run Holland.
Mondeo Hired Used for alleged drug run Holland
VW Passat Owned Alleged murder vehicle.
Q. You allege to sell Steele your V.W Passat, which on the
6.12.95 you say Whomes uses to drive to the Halfway House
in, and later picks you up after Steele drops you off?
Q. Exactly when do you sell Steele this V.W. Passat? (Con/Wit
Bridge pg 390). Bridge tells us 6.12.95 perhaps! (Nichol 22.5.96
pg 13) (4/11 14.5.96) Nichols puts no date to the sale of
this Passat.
Q. Do you have written evidence to corroborate your alleged
sale of this vehicle to Steele?
Q. When and how were you paid?
Q. Did you fill in the log book declaration, and notify the
D.V.L.C. change of ownership?
Q. You owned and used this vehicle for a number of months?
Q. Did Colin Bridge ever use this vehicle? (Bridge confirms
once only Con/Wit pg 390) On 6.12.95.
Q. Whilst clearing out the barns and carrying out electrical
work at Meadow Cottage, did you ever arrive on site driving
the V W Passat? (Yes)
Q. Did Colin bridge or Frani Reed ever travel in the V.W Passat
to Meadow Cottage or any other place of work? (Yes)
Q. Did you ever travel to a local pub for lunch whilst working
at Meadow Cottage with Mr Steels as passenger, in the V.W
Passat (Reed front passenger seat Steele rear seat passenger,
Pub.. . The Olde Ship Great Clacton.
Q. Do you recall Mr Steele test driving the V W Passat with
a view to purchasing it for his elder sister, during one of
your many visits to Meadow Cottage?
Q. He found this vehicle unsatisfactory didn't he?
Q. If as you allege Steele purchases your V W Passat, it would
follow, that he may have occupied every seat in the vehicle?
Q. (10/3 Nichols 20.5.96) You are asked by D.C Winstone, Quote,
"Have at any time both these persons been in the back
seat of the vehicle"?' (V.W Passat)
Q. (10/3 Nichols 20.5.96) Why do you say "Technically
yes ... Mick might have leant in the back"?
Q. Were you having a memory lapse when asked this question.
Had you forgotten Steele was the alleged owner of this Passat.
and quite likely sat in every seat??
Q. I put to you, this is more of your Fact into Fiction?
Q. I put to you Forensic science cannot put Steele in this
vehicle All you are assisting Police to do is to place him
in the rear of this vehicle corruptly? Setting him up!
Q. I put to you, it is most likely Your V.W Passat is never
at the murder scene, as forensic science once again fails
to provide any evidence to corroborate this?
Q The only thing we are positive on Mr Nichols, is that you
are most definitely at Workhouse Lane, Rettendon on 6.12.95
You admit being there simply because you have to because your
mobile phone itemised bills and relevant cell sites used by
your phone on this night confirm it. Cell sites at Basildon
and Rettendon connect your phone on 6.12.95. (See Police exhibits
pg 279)
I put to you neither Steele or Whomes drive to, or leave from
"Work House Lane" on 6.12.95 in your V W Passat
It is our belief neither does the V.W Passat? Steele and Whomes
both vehemently deny ever stepping into Workhouse Lane, throughout
their entire lives!
More "Fact into Fiction", because Nichols believe
at this stage the Passat really has been destroyed
Q. We agree a poor memory makes for a poor liar, which can
be shown by comparison (4/13 Nichols 14.5.96) (7/35 Nichols
17.5.96) The obvious point,to compare is the actual location
where Nichols alleges Whomes attempts a number plate change.
But what is more significant is the (7/35) reference to this
Nichols Quote "See me through it I remember"
He is clearly asking Brown for guidance. Notealso it is Brown
who suggests he changes the number plate prior to reaching
the Halfway House, and not after' Of course reference (4/13)
must be quoted, as Nichols appears to assume Whomes is so
thick, attempting to stickon false number plates. This is
clearly not Jack Whomes the engineer! "This is Nichols",
What's more significant, Jack Whomes is now going to carry
out a murder regardless of false number plates. Time and time
again Police describe these murders as a professional hit.
Nichols description does not fit the bill. What must Steele
think, when he arrives at Workhouse Lane, and cooly murders
3 people, only to find his V.W Passat has straight number
plates!
Q. Allow me to demonstrate the weakness of your memory, which
also illuminates your Fact into Fiction efforts and just how
diseased your mind is..
(Nichols 22.5.96 pg 24) Whilst at Meadow Cottage, (assumedly
16.12.95, ten days post murders Steele informs you, Sarah
Saunders has spoken to him and claims Ian Spindler was supposedly
meant to be in the Range Rover, with the deceased, on the
night of the murders You allege Steele would have bumped him
off too if this had been so! Merely because Spindler was an
old adversary of Nichols, "Nice touch"!
Q. Fact .. Saunders does convey this information, she also
informs Steele of her violent row with Tate the afternoon
of 6.12.95 She also speaks of her telephone call to Tate.
In an attempt to pacify him. This is how you come by these
facts, through Sarah Saunders, not as you allege through Steeles
first hand experience?
Fiction
Q. (Nichols 4/26 14.5 96) Just 8 days prior, you tell us Steele
gleans this information regarding lan Spindler first hand
whilst he is travelling in the Range Rover to death alley.
Which is yet another example of Fact into Fiction, proven
through a poor memory Corroborated by Saunders!
Q. (Nichols 4/26 14.5.96) Nichols first stab at the murder,
he introduces the lan Spindler fabrication which cannot be
corroborated, but totally neglects Saunders phone call to
Tate which can be corroborated. He is obviously influenced
later and has a total reversal of lan Spindler saga and Saunders
phone call to Tate.
Q. You allege Steele gives you first hand information relating
to these murders, e g. Saunders phone call to Tate The number
of times Steele fires into the victims and reloads. Saunders
informs him Tate refuses to repay the Mullocks Saunders tells
him lan Spindler should have been in the Range Rover. These
are but a few Can you give us any reason why Steele may be
falsifying any of this information, telling you untruths of
his actual alleged experiences?
Pre-influence statements by Nichols clearly suggest Saunders
phone call commences as Range Rover is turning into the lane,
time of call commencement 18.44hrs giving the Range Rover
1 minute to reach the gate, after turning into the lane, means
Tate has at least 2mins 46secs of phone call left which does
not fit into the alleged schedule.
It also means Whomes and Nichols must arrive at least by 1841hrs
hopefully to be in position, as Whomes would have to walk
from the turn off into the lane, to the gate area.
Nichols alleges to leave the Halfway House at 18.30hr; to
travel to Work House Lane, which is a 14 mile drive! Allowing
an average speed of 45 MPH it will take Nichols and Whomes
19 minutes to reach the top of the Lane! (Winstone and Brown
Exh ref pg 151 CDW/41... (Police time for this journey 21
minutes) This would indicate an E.T.A to the top of the lane
1848hrs! Nichols and Whomes arrive too late, 8 minutes too
late!
If we adopt Nichpls influenced attempt, which is the phone
call ends as they reach the top of the Lane, this indicates
the Range Rover arrives at exactly 1848hrs at the top of the
Lane. Clearly Whomes and Nichols have to arrive at least 3
minutes prior to this at a minimum! Which means they must
arrive at 1845hrs the latest. Calculated E.T.A. is 1849hrs.
They are still 4 minutes too late!
It is clear from Nichols 4 attempts at this phone call, that
he knows a phone call takes place. He does not know initially
the time and duration of the call, or which cell site services
the call. "Police do"! From (N/Apache 5.7.96 pg
25) (14/1-11) We can use the inference by quoting from the
top of the page, that Nichols committal statement is a project
of Police influence, they have told Nichols this phone call
must end prior to the Range Rover reaching the Lane! "To
fit the Nichols saga".
HOWEVER! Could Nichols be telling an essence of truth? Let's
assume he is in the Range Rover and witnesses Saunders call,
which does not end or commence as the Range Rover enters the
Lane. (1844hrs to 1848hrs)
Observe closely Police photographs at scene There are carbon
deposits under the exhaust tail pipe of Range Rover, which
would indicate it stood there running for some time!
We also have confidential witness "Raymond Alfred Wright"
(statement 13.12 95) who observes a Range Rover enter the
lane between 18.50 and 1900hrs) which he claims had Rear Lamp
guards! The deceased vehicle of course, does not!
Also we have the witness Kevin Tarbuck (unused 14.12.95) who
at 1940hrs witnesses a white Ford Escort Van, pull out of
the Lane in front of him. This witness describes Nichols account
of a near miss. but Nichols puts the V.W. Passatt in the frame,
not an Escort Van! Police at one stage had Tarbuck as a confidential
witness.
Raymond Wright (statement 13.12.95 confidential witness)The
Range Rover this man observes entering Workhouse Lane at 18.50hrs
on 6.12.95, is clearly not the deceased's vehicle, as rear
lamp guards are a feature of the vehicle he witnesses. What
is significant, three men of large stature occupy the vehicle,
the one sitting in the rear off side seat is wearing a fawn
light coloured top, not overalls!
We have a photograph of Nichols and Steele together (exhibit
Sep 13 pg 172) where Nichols is wearing such a top!
(Rebecca Carr 9.12.95 unused witness) Identifies a Range Rover
on 6.12.95 at. Rettendon Turnpike at 17.45hrs with 3 occupants
Pat Tate is identified as the rear seat passenger and Tony
Tucker resembles one of the front seat passengers. Rebecca
Carr observes a Sierra type vehicle ahead of them, which she
witnesses both the Range Rover and the Sierra, pull into the
farm shop at Whitehouse farm!
This would suggest that Tate et al are not at the Halfway
House at 18.30hrs, and seem to know the general area to which
Nichols suggests they have to be guided by Steele!
Raymond Wright, Rebecca Carr and Kevin Tarbuck are all independent
witnesses, who produce striking evidence, but Police only
wish to produce one of them Raymond Wright. Police have not
yet fell in about the lamp guards.
It is the appearance of Colin Bridge Nichols Suicide Jockey.
who turns up at Jack Whomes commercial premises driving a
White Ford Escort Van on 6.12.95, which magnifies the importance
of witness Kevin Tarbuck.
Colin Bridge, and the Sorrel Horse payphone. calls to the
deceased and Nichols on 6.12.95, completes the picture.
