Dear Darren,
I am writing this in the hope you will somehow hear about
this site and someday read this letter. It is NOT my intention
to question your evidence or to ask you anything about
the Rettendon or any other case. My sole intention is
to put you and your families minds at rest.
Before I gave evidence in the Leah Betts trial, I was
told by the Police that Tucker, Tate and various other
people were running around telling anybody who would listen
that they were going to 'iron me out,' 'shoot me,' 'stab
me,' etc...etc....
When Tucker and Tate were murdered, I was told others
had taken up their cause and I remained in danger.I now
believe those 'threats' were totally fictitious. I was
told about them - not for my well being, but because certain
people didn't want me associating with Tucker and Tate
etc.... just incase I changed my mind about attending
the trial. The 'threats' kept me away from everybody I
knew and the places I once frequented. It's rather ironic
that the Police knew the amount of money that had been
put on my head, the method which was going to be used
to 'dispatch me' and who was ordering the deed to be done
- yet they did nothing about it - except of course to
tell me and my family whom they seemed so keen to protect.
I know such threats are a great concern for you, your
Wife and of course your children. It's not nice having
to live in a constant state of alert. It grinds you down
both mentally and physically, eroding relationships and
the quality of life. That is why I've written you this
letter Darren. I just want you to know that whatever you
have read or been told about 'contracts being put on your
head,' 'death threats being issued, 'etc..etc...... it
is all total and utter rubbish. Whatever happened, and
nobody ignores the fact you too have suffered - happened
a long time ago and the only thing anybody want's is to
live free and in peace.
Nobody has 'won' - nobody has gained anything (except
of course the Policeman who received an award for his
sterling work) You, Mick, Jack and all of your loved ones
have all paid a terrible price, and for what?
Mick - a good friend of yours, languishes in Belmarsh
prison, where, if he loses all avenues of Appeal, will
surely die.
Jack, also a good friend of yours, languishes in Whitemoor
prison, separated from his Wife and their young children,
missing them terribly, deprived of watching them grow up.
In many ways, you and your family are also serving a sentence.
You have been torn from your relatives and friends, you
are forced to live a lie, you never know if you can settle
somewhere, you are always looking over your shoulder and
you can never find real peace.
I speak regularly to all parties Darren and the saddest
thing is you all want the same thing but people on the
'perimeters' are doing their best to prevent that from
happening. Mick and Jack just want to go home, put this
behind them and live out the rest of their lives with
their families. I'm sure you and your Wife want much the
same. I can assure you both, 100%, NOBODY has any interest
whatsoever in apportioning blame, seeking revenge or any
of the other nonsense you may have read or been told.
I'm sure you know how the Appeal system works. There are
rarely lengthy retrials. More often than not, it is just
one or two areas of the evidence which are looked at.
The families in this case, the Legal representatives and
some Journalists are looking constantly at every aspect
of the evidence. 38 grounds of Appeal are currently before
the Criminal cases review, more will surely follow. Whether
it be Jacks new mobile phone evidence, the failings of
the pathologist or a Police discrepancy, I am confident
Mick and Jack's break will come and they will be released.
All efforts to find that vital 'key' are being hampered
by the authorities, but come - it surely will.
The stories about the threats on your life are designed
to keep you in hiding and keep you 'in check.' I think
that is immoral and I think that is wrong. I have written
this letter so that you and your family are aware of the
true situation and can enjoy peace of mind.. If these
threats were 'real,' then surely somebody would have been
charged, questioned, or at least cautioned. None have,
none will be, because no threats have been made or even
discussed .You could free Mick and Jack tomorrow, so common
sense should tell you they would never want you to come
to any harm.
Good luck Darren, good health, good book !
