17/07/92 - I saw Alison alive at time of Michelle alibi
by Adrian Shaw
Standard

MURDERED bank clerk Alison Shaughnessy was seen alive and well on the night of her death at a tune when accused love rival Michelle Taylor had a cast-iron alibi, an Old Bailey jury heard today.

Mrs Christina Wright, a neighbour from the basement flat in the Battersea house where 21-year-old Alison lived with her husband John, said she saw the victim between 6pm and 6.30pm on 3 June last year.

The prosecution concedes that at this time Michelle was at the Churchill Clinic in Lambeth where she worked with Alison's husband, with whom she was having an affair.

However, Michelle's junior defence counsel, Mr Timothy Burke, told the jury that Mrs Wright, 74, was "a bit confused" and her doctor concluded she was a "very fragile lady who is unfit to give evidence".

The jury has been told medical evidence suggests Alison died between 5.30pm and 6pm. Michelle, 21, and her sister, Lisa, 19, of Forest Hill, deny murdering Alison.

The case continues.
