12/06/?? - Action by jailed girls
Evening Echo

A BASILDON man was facing a judge in the High Court today in a case brought by two sisters who were jailed for murder and then cleared.

A national newspaper reported today that while in jail, Michelle and Lisa Taylor, both in their twenties, allegedly exchanged letters with Mr Bernard O'Mahoney, 34, and he then sold them to the press.

They were sentenced to life for the murder of Alison Shaugnessy who was stabbed 54 times outside her Battersea home in 1991.

The sisters began their sentences in Holloway before being transferred to Bullwood Hall in Hockley. They did 11 months before they were cleared.

They are believed to be bringing a private action against Mr O'Mahoney for breach of confidence over the letters.
