- MUM'S CHEEKY BID TO CASH IN
By GARY JONES, Crime Reporter
News of the World
AS Michelle and Lisa Taylor blasted the tabloid Press in TV interviews
in their back garden, their mum Ann was trying to sell their story
to newspapers at the front of the house.
Michelle, 22, was highly critical of the Press and said: "It
seemed like I was reading about a different person."
But meanwhile, her mother was taking bids for her story Ann Taylor
took a News of the World reporter out of earshot of other journalists
to say: "How much? We got other offers.
"We're looking for the right price. You'll get an exclusive
talk with the girls. But they're not talking until something has
been settled.
"The girls want to put their side of the story. They will
answer all your questions." One Sunday newspaper offered
£25,000 for the story.
The News of the World made no offer.
A friend of the sisters said: "They want the cash - it's
as simple as that. It's odd that they're slagging off the Press
on the one hand, but are still happy to talk about selling their
story.
"It's a bit hypocritical, but they feel it's time to cash
in." |
