??/??/?? - Doctor saw 2 girls run from stab frenzy flat
By JAMES LEWTHWAITE and MIKE SULLIVAN

A SURGEON said yesterday he saw two girls running from the house where bride Alison Shaughnessy had been murdered just minutes earlier. Dr Michael Unsworth White told the Old Bailey they looked as if they were jogging but.

Something jarred in his mind. One girl was carrying a bulky light coloured bag. "I thought they might be going to the laundry," he added. "Then I realised the laundry was the other way."

Dr White said he also noticed a man aged 45 to 55 coming down the steps of the murder house as he cycled past. "The man was about ten yards behind the girls and didn't appear to be in any kind of hurry," he added.

Michelle Taylor, 21, and her sister Lisa, 18, of Forest Hill, South London, deny murdering Alison at her flat in nearby Battersea, They heard Dr White describe the two joggers he saw as he cycled to his home in the street where Alison shared a flat with two-timing husband John Shaughnessy.

He said the joggers were in their late teens or early twenties and blonde, one with a ponytail. They were' dressed in leggings and were between 5ft 4in and 5ft 6in. He added: "But they weren't acting suspiciously.

They weren't covered in blood or wielding axes. They weren't sprinting for cover." The doctor told Richard Ferguson QC defending John's mistress Michelle he had heard about a reward being offered by Barclays Bank for information on clerk Alison's killers.

His fiancee had got in touch with the bank about it, he added. Shaughnessy sat with Alison's parents Bobby and Breda as a medical report on 'how Alison died was read out.

The jury were not shown photos of her body because of their gruesome detail. Pathologist Professor Michael said he would describe the attack "in just one word frenzied." "It was inflicted by someone in a frenzy or a panic. It suggested the capability of a female," he added.

The first blow was delivered as Alison had her back to her killers. She spun round, collapsing to the floor, and was repeatedly stabbed trying to defend herself.
