- Taylor sisters' fight reaches Parliament
FOREST HILL: The continuing fight for justice by freed sisters
Michelle and Lisa Taylor has reached Parliament. Their MP,
Lewisham West's Jim Dowd, has tabled a motion in the Commons
and is calling for a meeting about the case with the Home
Secretary, Michael Howard, in a bid to launch an inquiry.
The sisters, of Kemble Road, were jailed for life in July,
1992, for the murder of Alison Shaughnessy, who was stabbed
to death at her Vardens Road home, Battersea in June, 1991.
Their convictions were quashed by the Court of Appeal. Mr.
Dowd said, "Two years of these innocent young women's
lives have been wasted by an unholy alliance of the police
and Press abusing their very considerable power. It must never
be allowed to happen again."
