I reside at an address known to police, On Wednesday 050691 at about 1830 ish I was at home, When I was called on by two police officers, They were making enquires into a Murder at an address in Vardens Road, the previous Monday, I was asked if I had seen anything suspicious on that night, I told them that I had arrived home at about 1745 but it could have been 5 Minutes later or earlier, I told them that I had not seen anything suspicious.

They took my details and those of my girlfriend who was staying with me and they left, The following day I gave the police enquiry a lot of thought. I recalled that on the 040691 I was on call and therefore I stayed at the hospital and on the 030691 I finished early and therefore home at the time stated, I re thought my movements on the Monday and I remember that when I was riding down Vardens road I saw two young girls aged between 18 - 25 leaving a house on my right as I rode down the road.

This would be an odd numbered house, I remembered that the house had steps leading up to the front door, They left the house and turned left towards Battersea Rise, One of the girls was carrying a bag which I thought contained washing, I had because of their dress originally thought they were going jogging, they were in fact running up the road, I saw the bag, which was light coloured, plastic type of the kind you get in a supermarket, I formed the impression it contained clothing and that they were going to the launderette.

I later discounted this as they were running in the opposite direction to the local launderette, I then saw an older man standing by the doorway of the house, This was a matter of seconds later. The older man was grey haired and dressed in a grey coloured raincoat, I would describe the man as aged between 45 ~ 55 years of age, I would describe the two girls as follows.

The older of two girls was wearing trainers leggings ( like a track suit bottoms ), The younger girl was also wearing leggings like the older girl, As far as I recall one of the girls had blonde / fair hair which appeared shoulder length tied back in a pony tail. The girl with the pony tail looked more attractive than the other girl, ( This is the reason why my attention was drawn to them ).

I continued to ride home, I didn't phone police about these two girls as I did not connect them to the murder. On Sunday 040891 following a visit from police again I told them about the two girls. I think I would recognise the girls again if I saw them, but I cannot be sure, I would be willing to assist police in this matter, i would like to add that during the visit by police in this matter.

040891 I went to the end of Vardens Road and I retraced my route of the 030691. I walked down the Middle of the road and I pointed out the steps that led to 41 and 43 as the steps I had seen the two girls run down, I would also like to add that the girls appeared to be about 5'3 tall to 5'5 tall no taller, I would like to say that there was a gap of at least 10 yards between the girls and the man, As far as I recall the Man had started to walk down the steps as I passed him, Both of the girls were white Europeans.
