I live at the address shown overleaf with two of my work mates, Priscilla INCARNATION and Janet McDONALD. I have lived at the address for approximately one year. The house is owned by my employers "The Churchill Clinic" of 80 LAMBETH ROAD, SE1 which is a 'BUPA' run private hospital, I have worked at the Churchill Clinic since the 060787.

When I started to work there I was a sales assistant in the accounts department. In the 000988 John Patrick SHAUGHNESSY started to work in the purchasing department and therefore I worked quite closely with him and got to know him well, Before that time I knew him Just to say 'hello' in passing.

John lived at Number 60 LAMBETH ROAD, SE1 which is also owned by the Churchill Clinic, The first time I met Alison SHAUGHNESSY was at a social function organised by the Churchill Clinic. I think it was a Christmas Party in 1988. She was introduced as John's girlfriend.

After that time I'd see Alison and John around the Clinic and the house and I became friends with her especially over the last eighieen months, In 000690 Alison and John married, I went to the wedding and even helped them move into their new flat at Flat 3, 41 VARDENS ROAD, SW11.

The flat is owned by Thameside Housing Association and was rented to John's aunts Margaret and Mary BURKE, Due to Mary being ill the Association allowed John and Alison to have a temporary lease on the flat, Before Alison and John were married, Alison lived with her parents in FINSBURY PARK.

I was close to both John and Alison, they invited me for meals at the flat and they have been to my parents for dinner, Their flat is one of two in a converted house, John and Alison have a two bedroomed flat arranged over the first and second floors.

The flat on the ground floor is rented by Mr CASEY, I met him when I was helping with the move into the flat and I've bumped into him a few times since then as I've been coming in and out. There is a basement to the flat but I don't know what it is used for.

To enter Alison and John's flat you walk up a short flight of steps from the street to the front door. This door has two lock's, a "Yale" type lock and underneath that a deadlock. There is then a passageway with Mr CASEY's front door leading off to the left and Alison's and John's front door straight in front of you.

This door has a single Yale lock. When you open the door you are at the bottom of a flight of stairs leading to a small landing. As you come up the stairs there is a window on the landing straight in front of you and a toilet in a small room to your left.

There is then another flight of stairs 'coming back' on the first flight again leading to a landing, From this landing as you come up the stairs is the Kitchen to the right and the front room straight ahead, Off another flight of stairs, going in the same direction as the first is a window, then another flight of stairs of which are the two bedrooms and bathroom.

John and Alison's bedroom is the room straight in front of you. I work at the Churchill Clinic from 1530 until 2030 every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Every Monday John arranges the flowers for the clinic, he does this in overtime and pays me to help him, On Monday 030691 I started to help John with the flowers at about 1800.

We finished at about 2000 and because I had to go to the toilet I said to John I would meet him at my car at 2015 to give him a lift home. I always give John a lift home every Monday after we have finished at the clinic, I met John at my car, which is a 'Y' reg white Sierra Estate and I drove John home.

We went to Vauxhall, along the Wandsworth Road to Clapham Junction and then into Vardens Road. I parked my car a little way past the flat and I locked my car and walked to the flat with John. I was going to have a quick chat with Alison and use their toilet. We arrived at about 2030 or just gone.

We went to the front door and John put his key in the deadlock then told me that it wasn't locked and said that Alison always locks it, John then unlocked the Yale lock and we went into the passageway, I didn't notice anything unusual outside the flat or on the front door.

John then unlocked his front door and I started to follow him up the stairs. After he turned the corner he shouted "Alison" "Alison". I ran up the stairs to the second flight and I saw Alison lying at the top of the stairs, I thought Alison had collapsed, Alison was lying on her stomach with her head on one side facing away from the stairs.

The kitchen door was slightly open resting against her head. Her right leg was straight and her foot was in between the banister rails. Her left leg was slightly bent away from her body. I can remember that she was wearing a flowery skirt which was bundled up around her waist, black tights which had holes in them and light coloured knickers.

I can't remember what she was wearing on her top, Her tights and knickers didn't look as if they had been disturbed, One black shoe was on the stairs below her about two steps down and Alison's handbag was near to her head. I think its brown and her head may have been resting on part of it.

I ran up to Alison and I tried to pick her up with my hand underneath her head, I was shouting "Alison, Alison", she was stiff and she had blood in her mouth, she had blood near her ear and cuts on her leg. I checked her pulse and her eyes which were bloodshot.

John was saying "I don't know whats happened" over and over and I said she's all stiff and started screaming. John said he was going to phone an ambulance from Mr CASEY's and I asked him if he had checked her pulse because she was cold. I remembered that I had seen a Policeman walking in the street when we arrived at the flat and I ran out to see if I could see him.

John was knocking on Mr CASEY's flat as I went out. He had propped open the flat door with a wedge, I couldn't see the Policeman and because I had no money on me I ran to the pub on the corner of Varden's Road. I was crying and nearly hysterical and I told the lady behind the bar to phone the Police because there was somebody dead, and I then had to give the address.

A group of people then said they would come back to the flat with me, About four people came back, including one woman. I don't know any of their names. When I got back to the flat John said Mr CASEY had phoned the Police and John and a few of the men went upstairs. I followed them up with the lady.

They stood looking at Alison but I don't think they touched her, They went back downstairs and I went up to Alison and stroked her hair and tried to get her hair off her face. I also pulled down her skirt, I had blood on my hands and I then went to the bathroom to wash my hands.

I also went into the front room with John to see if anything had been touched but everything seemed as normal, none of the windows were open, On the way down the stairs I opened the first landing window to let in some fresh air as I felt sick, As I was stood on the landing the Police arrived.

The last time I saw Alison was on the 180591 at the Churchill Clinic, The last time I spoke to her was on Tuesday 280591 when she rang the Churchill Clinic asking for John. I have been asked by Police if I have any idea who could have done this to Alison and I have no idea at all.

I am willing to attend Court and give evidence regarding this matter if required.
