151. Michelle TAYLOR was taken to Wandsworth Police Station
and Lisa TAYLOR was taken to Battersea Police Station.
152. That same morning at 5.45 am. at 60 Lambeth Road, SE1,
Jeannette Jacqueline TAPP was arrested by Detective Inspector
Trevor HEARD for a Conspiracy to murder Alison SHAUGHNESSY.
She was taken to Tooting Police Station.
153. All relevant addresses were thoroughly searched with
negative results.
154. John SHAUGHNESSY also attended Tooting Police Station
that same day as a witness, and over a four day period gave
a 73 page statement.
155. Jeannette TAPP was interviewed by Detective Inspector
HEARD and Detective Constable Angela THOMAS and she quickly
told them that she had lied about the alibi for Michelle
and Lisa on the 3rd June 1991. She had in fact, been shopping
that afternoon and at from about 4.45pm. until 7.00pm. she
spent the afternoon with her sisters at her mother's flat
in GIBSON ROAD, KENNINGTON. When she returned to her room
at Lambeth Road, SE1 at about 7.20pm. she saw Lisa on her
balcony waving to her. Lisa opened the front door and let
Jeannette into the premises. When they were in her room
unpacking the shopping, Lisa told Jeannette that both Michelle
and her had been back at Lambeth Road at 5.00pm. waiting
for her to arrive home.
156. The next day, 4th June 1991, Michelle and Lisa had
visited her, (Miss TAPP) at Lambeth Road and picked up a
black plastic bin liner containing clothes which they had
left there the night before. During the conversation that
day, Michelle said to her "We was here just after five."
157. The following Sunday, after a Detective Officer had
visited Jeannette TAPP and told her that he would call again
and take a statement from her, she became frightened and
telephoned Michelle. Michelle told her that both Lisa and
her were at Lambeth Road just after 5.00pm. She told Jeannette
that she was not lying to her and that she should tell the
police that she (Jeannette) was also with them.
158. Jeannette saw Michelle two days later when Michelle
again reassured her that they were both at Lambeth Road
just after 5.00pm.
159. After they had all been interviewed on 24th July 1991
at Battersea Police Station, Michelle asked Jeannette whether
or not she had kept to her original statement.
160. Miss TAPP gave the false alibi because she had been
totally influenced by Michelle and she is in fear of the
entire TAYLOR family.
161. At the conclusion of the interview Jeannette TAPP was
told that the facts would be reported to the Crown Prosecution
Service for consideration to be given to prosecute her for
Conspiracy to Pervert the Course of Justice.
162. At Wandsworth Police Station on 7th August 1991, between
11.05am and 1.00pm. Michelle TAYLOR was interviewed in the
presence of her Solicitor Miss LISTER, by Detective Sergeant
GALLAGHER and Detective Constable SUMMERS. Four Master tapes
of that interview are exhibited as AS/20.
163. She was further interviewed that same day between 4.16pm.
and 4.54 pm. by the same officers in the presence of Miss
LISTER, and the two Master tapes are exhibited as AS/22.
164. The following day Michelle TAYLOR was interviewed at
Wandsworth Police Station between 11.25am. and 12.11pm.
again by the same officers in the presence of Miss LISTER.
The two Master tapes are exhibited as AS/25.
165. Apart from agreeing that she had made two statements
to Police giving her account of the incident, she made no
comments on the advice of her solicitor, to the majority
of questions put to her.
166. Lisa TAYLOR was interviewed on 7th August 1990 at Battersea
Police Station by Detective Sergeant GLEESON and Detective
Constable SMITH, in the presence of her Solicitor, Mr HOLMES.
The times of the interviews were 10.41am. to 11.11am., 11.14am.
to 11.26am., 3.55pm. to 4.25pm., and 4.27pm. to 4.47pm.
and the Master tapes have been exhibited as BG/50, BG/51,
BG/52 and BG/53 respectively.
167. The following day she was again interviewed between
10.37am. to 11.06am. (Exhibit BG/54) 11.14am. to 11.42 am.
(Exhibit BG/55) 11.48am. to 12.17pm. (Exhibit BG/56).
168. All the tape recorded interviews have been transcribed
and are included with the report.
169. Throughout the interviews Lisa made no comments to
virtually all of the questions put to her by the officers.
At one stage she did agree that she had made a statement
to police but all the time she was controlled and composed
- an extremely hard young woman.
170. At 3.10 pm. on the 8th August 1991 both Lisa and Michelle
TAYLOR were formally charged with the murder of Alison SHAUGHNESSY
on 3rd June 1991. Both were further cautioned but neither
made any reply. Detective Inspector HEARD was present.
171. It should be noted for prosecution council that these
two young females can switch tears on and off very easily,
giving the impression that they are not capable of committing
such an horrendous crime, but beneath that veneer of deceit
they are hard, unremorseful, and calculating criminals.
172. There are a number of issues still outstanding. The
fingerprint evidence relating to Lisa is still being processed.
The result of the analysis of the blood found in the sleeves
of Lisa's jacket (which was discovered in Michelle's car)
is not yet available.
173. Also the defendants' father Derek was arrested on the
8th August 1991 in possession of a large knife which was
discovered in the handle of one of his cleaning mops. He
has been charged with possession of an Offensive Weapon
and is due to appear at South Western Magistrates Court
on 12th September 1991. The knife in question has been submitted
to the laboratory for a thorough examination because it
could conceivably be the murder weapon.
174. On Friday 23rd August 1991 both defendants stood on
separate identification parades. The witness Doctor Michael
UNSWORTH-WHITE viewed both parades but did not make any
positive identifications. However he was allowed a second
viewing of the parade containing Lisa TAYLOR and made a
comment suggesting he was undecided between the prisoner
and a participant. The procedure and parade are fully described
in Inspector Robert BRAGG's statement who produces Exhibit
RB/3.
175. Other avenues currently being explored and any positive
results together with the findings of the abovementioned
topics will be the subject of a further report.
