DC SUMMERS
The time now is 4.46 on 7th August 1991. It's been exactly one minute since I turned the tape off and took the first set of tapes out. During that time Michelle, has anyone entered or left the room?

M TAYLOR
No.

DC S
Has anyone asked you any questions in connection with the offence for which you have been arrested?

MT
No.

DC S
I must warn you that you are still under caution and the questioning will continue.

P LISTER
Can I just say something before it does? Um, at the beginning of the last interview, my client stated that she didn't wish to answer any further questions and She read that short statement, um, I do appreciate that the officer has a right to ask her further questions and he did so for approximately half an hour. She made no comment to all those questions. I do feel that if any further questions are put, that it would undermine her right to remain silent especially in view of the last few questions that were that were put by the officer, and I therefore feel that the interview should be terminated now.

DS GALLAGHER
Point taken.

DC S
Right. I just want to ask you a couple of questions, you loved John didn't you?

MT
No comment.

DS G
I'm sorry, I thought you were just about setting the machine up...

DC S
Sorry, I was, I just wanted to take a train of thought that was all

DS G
Yeah, sure sure.

DC S
You see, my colleague's been asking you about Tim. Now Tim you went out with is that correct?

MT
No comment.

DC S
For a short period of time?

MT
No comment.

DC S
And Tim, for want of a better terminology, um, was ditched, finished with, because you felt he was using you. I think in your own words it was, "He wanted you for one thing and one thing only?"

MT
No comment.

DC S
Was the relationship you had with him any different to the one you had with John?

MT
No comment.

DC S
Or was the relationship you had with John deeper and stronger than the one you had with Jim or Tim?

MT
No comment.

DS G
Can you just make sure she has been cautioned again for me please?

DC S
I did.

DS G
Okay. Can you just do it again please?

DC S
Yeah. May I remind you that you do not have to say anything unless you wish to do so, but what you say may be given in evidence, do you understand?

DS G
That has just been put in because my train of thought when your solicitor spoke was interrupted and I didn't pick up the obvious he probably did say it and I'm sure he did say it, but just to make sure I wanted to go I'm taking note of what your solicitor has said and I'm going to ask you further questions. Who is Lisa's boyfriend?

MT
No comment.

DS G
Who did she go to JJ's party with?

MT
No comment.

DS G
What's Lisa's boyfriend's name?

MT
No comment.

DS G
What did you say to Lisa when you telephoned her at the hostel after the discovery of Alison's body?

MT
No comment.

DS G
In your statement you say that you asked her to go to your room and get some cash and get a cab home? Is that correct?

MT
No comment.

DS G
Where were you between 4.00pm and 6.00pm on 3rd June?

MT
No comment.

DS G
You certainly weren't in Bromley and you certainly weren't in JJ's

DS G
flat that's for sure.

MT
No comment.

DS G
'Cos you were seen that day at 4 o'clock.

MT
No comment.

DS G
Driving out of the hospital. Certainly between 4 and 10 past 4 you were seen.

MT
No comment.

DS G
And you were seen again later that day at 6 o'clock with Lisa driving back into the hospital, or certainly in the vicinity of the road outside the hospital.

MT
No comment.

DS G
I'd say those times are correct and those witnesses who saw you are correct. They know you, I don't think they are mistaken.

MT
No comment.

DS G
So I think you and Lisa have got together and concocted the story that JJ's agreed with. I think that's what happened. Is that right?

MT
No comment.

DS G
Is there anything further you want to say to me?

MT
No.

DS G
Is there anything that you want to say to me?

PL
No, no.

DS G
Is there anything that you want to ask Adrian?

DC S
No.

DS G
I propose to conclude this interview at this time I want you to

DS G
be quite sure that I will not interview you again today, and I shall certainly not interview you without the presence of your solicitor. Is that quite clear to you?

MT
Yes.

DS G
And as far as I'm concerned, no other officer will interview you without the presence of the solicitor. You understand that?

MT
Yes.

DS G
Right we can conclude it now any time you're ready.

DC S
Do you, at this stage, wish to add or clarify anything while this tape is running?

MT
No.

DC S
I will now serve you with a notice that I referred to at the beginning of the interview, it's the same form that you had this morning, um, I'll give you one that's the same. It basically lays out the rules and your right how to get a copy of the tapes. I now propose to conclude this interview and the time now is 4.54pm.
